My entire family read – every where we go, each of us would carry a book, in case we get some extra time (like being stuck in a jam; an urgent toilet break; a long queue, etc), we could just whip out our books and escape into a fantasy world, far remove from whatever it was that gave us the extra time in the first place.
Needless to say, buying books is a favourite past time for the family. Consequently, a significant chunk of the family’s expenses is spent on books (which can be quite painful!).
So, imagine my delight when a friend introduced this little book paradise located within Amcorp Mall, Petaling Jaya a few weeks ago. The place is called BookXcess where new books are sold dirt cheap!
Last weekend, we decided to take a day trip to KL and visit this bibliophile paradise. These were what we bought:
We bought 4 books (one for each member of the family):
1. Black Order by James Rollins (for me)
2. Mr and Miss Anonymous by Fern Michaels (for the wifey)
3. A collection of 3 TinTin comics (for the girl)
4. An Asterix comic book (for the boy)
Total cost: RM 72.
Cheap!
Maybe you are wondering why the books are so cheap. I wonder too but so far I haven’t detected any major defects in the books I bought except that each book is marked with a black lline along one of the sides and in the latest book I just read (James Rollin’s ‘Map of Bones’), there were a few pages where the sentences were a little faint but still quite legible.
So, if you have time and happen to be near Amcorp Mall, why not pop over there and take a look yourself! (FYI, I do not receive any form of commission from BookXcess for this post, though I wouldn’t mind if they throw me a few gift vouchers for singing their praises!).

All hail books! I have yet to visit them since they moved to the bigger venue. Maybe I should go after work tomorrow
