Case #100: The woman with the rash

It’s been a while since the last clinical scenario was released here. I am pleased to announce that this is the 100th article of ‘patient of the week’. (Now I can write a book!).

A young woman presents with 5 days history of fever with myalgia. By the time of admission, she has developed a mildly itchy rash and her fever has subsided. Her CBC showed leucopenia and thrombocytopenia.

Here is a picture of the rash:

Questions:

1. What is the rash classically known as?
2. What is the most likely diagnosis?
3. What are the 6 warning signs of this disease as listed in the WHO Guidelines for this disease (2009 Edition)?
