Time check: Nope, it’s not April Fool’s Day.
So, this piece of news is pretty credible. I think; since it is carried by Bloomberg, the Time Magazine and CNN.
For the first time, a combination vaccine has been developed which could reduce HIV transmission by about 30%; according to researchers working in Thailand using the HIV strain of virus prevalent there.
Some of us may balk at the dismal efficacy of this new vaccine but imagine if we could cut infection rate by 30%, what a significant impact it would make!
Jimbo, therefore, is cautiously optimistic!
[...] just as the news that a new HIV vaccine has been discovered, some one texted Jimbo with this [...]
when i was in phase 1, my group did a presentation on history of vaccine… the topic was straight forward because everyone thinks vaccines are not harmful and never thought the lecturer came up with a single question: What are the disadvantages of vaccine? It became quite an interactive session until we have no more answers to offer… finally she gave her own answer: promiscuity.. (Did we hear wrongly?!) and she continued “haven’t you guys thought of HIV vaccine that could be available in the market in near future?” @_@ so indeed, her dream came true, but i wonder will promiscuity be a problem since the vaccine reduce infection rate by 30%…
good news indeed!
well. have to also consider if this will change one’s lifestyle too. kinda like how the ‘lite’ cigarettes actually cause people to smoke more because they thought it was safer
but yes, exciting news indeed, saw it on CNN.
