Answer today: (Sorry didn’t have time to go on the net yesterday)
The answer is indeed Cytomegalovirus (Chorio)retinitis. The fundoscopic picture shown is diagnostic of this condition, showing retinal hemorrhages (red) and exudates (white) giving a “brush fire” appearance. Here we do not see brush fire, so I guess the other way of describing it would be pizza cheese and tomato sauce appearance.
Everyone gets a kudo this time: FengY, Jing, mbism1, TFTD, oyy a.k.a TMNT, dytia, daun serai, yumei and CK.
Well done. I hope one day you will be able to diagnose one when you do a fundoscopy.
Aiyoyo, the picture looks quite small in my PDA,
Diagnosis: CMV retinis as opportunistic infection of the eye(s) when the immunity is low. It is associated with low CD4 count (<50).
Fundoscopy image showed involvement of the optic disc & ?macula (1st picture) with patchy hemorrhages & large cotton wool spots in co-relation with vision blurring symptoms of the patient.
