Pills Drill
I think this is an all too familiar scenario for us doctors who prescribe medicine (and pharmacists too!)
I saw this elderly gentleman last week in the clinic. He has hypertension and ischaemic heart disease. he also underwent a bilateral orchidectomy a year ago for prostate carcinoma. He complains of giddiness for the last two months. Another doctor who saw him earlier ordered a CT brain with a ‘KIV to refer ENT if CT brain normal’.
The CT brain was indeed normal and he didn’t have any symptoms suggestive of an ENT cause of his illness. He did however give a history of ‘his doctors in KL giving him some more medications’ on top of his regular medicine from the clinic.
Suspecting that his additional medications may have something to do with his current problem, I asked if he brought his medications along with him; for which he promptly produced an ex-Amlodipine bottle containing these tablets:
Familiar scenario?
So, anyone wanna help me with identifying the tablets? (I could identify 6 of them).
Sigh….
Why can’t patients keep their tablets in the containers given to them with the label intact???!!!!
Tues, 010508 @ 0700; Jimbo and Gang are climbing Mount Nuang today. Please pray for our safety.
