After Angsi and Datuk, why not Nuang?

Here is a challenge.

After climbing Gunung Angsi (3x) and Gunung Datuk (twice), I’m itching for a new challenge (i.e. a new mountain to climb).

I don’t have the full details yet but the target for the next climb on May 1st (yes, it’s a public holiday) will be Gunung Nuang in Hulu Langat Selangor. It’s 1493 meters above sea level, that’s almost double the height of Angsi.

Entrance to Nuang

The last time I went to Hulu Langat was when I attended a wedding; and before that, I went camping there when I was merely 12 years old with the Boys Brigade. It was my first camping trip and proved to be a disaster as heavy rain caused the Hulu Langat river to swell and washed our entire campsite away in the middle of the night. Thankfully, yours truly survived the ordeal.

So, it’s time to revisit an old ghost, to bring about some sort of closure. :)

I am told the climb will be 11 hours long, 6 hours for summiting and 5 hours to descend. We have to start as early as 5.30 am and will be back by 9 pm the same day.

If you are game, start preparing for it, mentally and physically. It will be a gruesome climb. I am told that the climb will go ahead only if there are a minimum of 4 people (the leader and I make 2, and KK wants to come along too; that’s 3 people confirmed).

Any takers?

Meanwhile, to get an idea of what you are up against, take a look at these 2 sites I googled:

1. Info on Gunung Nuang

2. Road to Nuang

Those who are too chicken too scared not available to climb Gunung Nuang, I am taking another group of youths up Gunung Datuk on 3 May 2008; consider joining me then.
