I have THREE (3) copies of the Malaysian CPG on CDs for the first 3 people who contact me. Offer vallid while stock lasts. Btw, once you have it, do others a favour and make copies for them! (Oh dear, did I just set off a piracy epidemic in this place?)
Thurs, 060907 @ 1333; at the PACES and wishing it’s a weekend.
Sixteen years after starting my medical career (inclusive of 5 years and 9 months of undergrad med school), I finally got my Masters degree yesterday. I didn’t want to go for the convocation initially but mum asked me to, and even gave me some money to purchase the convocation photos as a gift. Thanks mum!
I’m glad I went.
It was good. We (my wife and I) made it there in time (after gobbling down some really hot kueh teow soup in record time at a restaurant nearby), got ourselves a good parking lot, and sat through the whole thing (I listened to about 12 songs on my Walkman Phone) and I came out without a hint of dehydration, migraine or homicidal-intent.
I had my 5 secs of fame. I timed myself. That’s exactly how long it took to walk from one end of the stage to the centre, take my scroll from Raja Nazrin and exit the other end. Four and a half years of hard work for 5 seconds of fame.
Before I show you some pics, there are some people I want to thank:
1. GOD (okay, okay, technically not in a ‘people’ category but then again…)
2. Family (that includes wife, kids, parents and in laws and out laws)
3. Experts who were my lecturers, mentors and tutors.
4. Doctors who I have worked with and have encouraged me tremendously.
5. Church Members who prayed for me and gave me strong support.
6. Batch Mates who in one accord conspirated to make history in UM because it was due to us that UM failed to produce a single Internal Medicine Masters Graduate in 2006!
7. All my other friends, colleagues, bloggers and brothers and sisters in the faith who are too many to be named! Thanks guys!
You notice or not I actually named these 7 categories from A-G in the reverse order? Heh heh! (Part of my OCD complex)
Here are some pics:
The arch on route to the Dewan Tunku Canselor
It was a beautiful day that day
The convocation venue. Thankfully this year, the arsonists didn’t work on it! (look up its history)
Pretty boys and girl in pink! From left: Hanizam, Zanapiah, Zulhilmi, Zulkarnain and Sharon (she moved, not my hand or camera’s fault). Pic taken in the exam hall just before we walked to the venue.
Inside the hall, the proceedings were projected onto 2 huge screens. And yes, Gamelan music filled the hall.
The Pro-Chancellor, Raja Nazrin, the Crown Prince of The State of Perak, giving his (mercifully) short speech.
My bouquet of roses with a ‘graduation bear’ from my wife. Thanks wifey! Awww, so sweet.
And where are Jimbo’s pics? Aiya, paiseh la to display my own pics.
But you can watch a short clip here of my ‘5 seconds of glory’ on stage.
Truth be told, I am proud to be a UM Graduate, just so that my parents can tell others “My son is a ma-tai tai hok sang* !!” Despite its falling ratings, UM is still arguably the premier public university in this country.
