RM 150 for Buzz?

My kids, unfortunately, ventured into Toys ‘R’ Us at the Bangsar Village shopping mall on the 1st day of the CNY (where we had our Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken) and my son’s eyes fell upon the object of his heart’s desire: An almost 2 feet tall replica of Buzz Lightyear, that slightly over-nourished space ranger from Toy Story 1 & 2. (I secretly cursed PIXAR).

Buzz Lightyear

He has been taken up by ‘heroes’ these days, like Spiderman and Superman but his perennial favourite is still good old chubby Buzz when he is not busy shooting imaginary web at his daddy or flying off the sofa.

And so he came over to his daddy, with angelic eyes (slightly moist  too, mind you) staring at me and he purred “Daddy, can we buy Buzz Lightyear? He has laser guns on his arms! I NEED Buzz Lightyear! PPPPLLLLLLLLEEEeeeassssseeeeee????!!”

Thank God, good old daddy still had some sense in his Carlsberg befuddled mind to say a ‘firm but loving’ “No, you don’t NEED Buzz Lightyear and he is too expensive.”

So, would you spend RM150 on Buzz for your kid?

My son was visibly dejected but he did not cry (no crying on CNY, you see). He waited until we reached home and that evening, he brought up the issue of ‘Big Buzz Lightyear’ again (he has a small one you see, from Mac Donalds).

Once again, I told him it’s too expensive to buy. You could almost see a light bulb come on as he scooted to his piggy bank and withdrew a handful of coins. He quickly ran back to where I was and placed 80 sen into my palms and said “See, I got money what, now we can buy Buzz Lightyear!”

Now everyone say “Awww……..”

I wonder if he could wait till December (his birthday)….

Wed, 210207 @ 1319; back at the office coz I’ve been asked to go to a Kampung nearby to survey its suitability to be adopted as part of the Kg Angkat Projek. Sigh.

Bad influence there. My kids have been trained not to do breast strokes on dry land as many kiasu kids are known to do. ;-P

    Let me teach your son.

LM: Ryan, you should just insist and throw a bad tantrum if your daddy says no. You see, daddy earns heaps! RM150 is just but 5 mins of consultation time. :P

    Ryan: high-five LM!
