I just got a call an hour ago from my co-investigator for my thesis. Apparently he submitted a poster presentation of my thesis at the Malaysian Society of Hypertension Annual Scientific Meeting currently in progress in KL (some how I was not invited nor was I aware of it! But that’s another story).
And he called with the good news that our poster came first! And the prize money is RM 1K! He graciously said he will share the dough with me (after deducting for the poster cost which is RM100). That is good news indeed. Never thought my work was that good! Not boasting here, just a bit of amazement and minor self accolade.
DON’T ask me for a treat. I’ve got lots of debt to pay off!
Sat, 130107 @ 1808; having a good break at home and appalled that Johor is flooded again.

Aiyo, it’s RM1000 la and my cut is a miserable RM450 which if converted to Sing dollars would just about buy a bowl of laksa there. Sigh.
I shared your happiness!! (c’mon, where’s the treat for your blog frens?
)
now let me read again.. was it RM1000, or RM100,000. put on reading glasses.. no wait. I am supposed to having 6/6 vision
Thanks everyone!And yes, help does come from unexpected sources. Bernard and George, congrats too for I read both your blogs have been given it’s due accolades recently!
Actually the win was rather bittersweet, made more ironic by the fact that I was not aware of the poster nor the conference until it was well underway and my friends have to call me to tell me that we won! There goes my 5 min of fame. Sigh.
Wow jimbo, well done! Phewwitt!
Congrats to you and your co-investigator!
Help does come from unexpected sources, sometimes
Congrats Jimbo
Congrats, man! So nice to have a windfall when u least expect it, huh. *wink* *wink* after what u were telling me the other day.
Yup, it’s really bad and to think that I was feeling rather optimistic when I was there last weekend for the flood relief work. Sigh. That’s the price we pay for over development.
Congrats!
About the flood, I heard that there’s been heavy rain for quite a few days now and while JB was relatively untouched last month, this time ’round, there are quite a few waterlogged areas in the city as well.
