Lovely flowers for a lovely lady

img_3299.JPGimg_3301.JPGimg_3303.JPG

Got these lovely flowers for my wifey for her birthday recently. I had initially wanted to buy her white lilies but they cost RM 10 each! The flower girl said it’s because they were imported flowers. Roses were out as they generally don’t last long. And then I spied these flowers. Aren’t they lovely? And 5 stalks fit snugly into our crystal vase.

Problem is, I don’t know what they are called. The flower girl mumbled something about ‘G-grass’ or was it ‘Gem-grass’ or was it ‘Green Grass’. I don’t know. Anyone out there who is botanically inclined and can help me in identifying the flower?

Anyhow, my wife loved it and so do I. Flowers can brighten up the whole place and not to mention one’s mood too! :-)

Jimbo: you see what I mean?!! i pick 5 days out of the month of october to be in bolehland, and you have to select one of the days in the 5! I think lidat better go buy lottery!

My orchid collection no flowers one lah… all species, so flower once a year only. Its like going to any malaysian hutan lidat… (my garden)

Oh, btw, I am flying to penang, then drive down to ipoh, cameron highlands. then return to penang. (avoiding KL :)

Joycelyn: yah.. the white tiger lily is usually used in last rites and in church services. Use other color tiger lilies (eg: orange/yellow) is still ok for bouquets

But I must say that the scent of these lilies is simply beautiful! exquisite.

I actually had white lilies as deco for my wedding. It was really nice. I hope you will get your wish Joycelyn. I firmly believe that ladies should always receive flowers. I know so many ladies who secretly wish their partner would just send them flowers. :-) Guys, wake up and do something ya!

LM, aiya, can’t do then. My meeting is on the 15th Oct! It’s on Levitra, one of the wonder drugs for erectile dysfunction. Sigh! I was hoping to see your orchid collection! :-) The last time I was in Singapore was in 1983!

jimbo, why we have such great psychic abilities?!! i am going to bolehland next month too! (14-17 Oct).

Wow, finally coming down to kiasuland? med conference/meeting? when?

    PS: why r u fixated on the letter ‘G’? G-string? :P

  9. Jimbo says:

Thanks guyz! I was sure the name started with the letter ‘G’. Hey, LM, I might be going to kiasuland for a weekend next month. any possibility of parasiting on you? I am attending a meeting there. :-)
Btw, my wifey knows how much they cost la, the white lilies i mean and she felt it’s too much to pay for anyway. See, great minds think alike.

  10. LM says:

Oh, those cameron highland everlasting flowers are the so-called ‘strawflowers’, or Helichrysum

  11. LM says:

jonzz, I’m sure our good doc wouldnt be making the mistake of buying chrysanthemums for his DW’s birthday!

and what acronym are u toying with? TOEFL?

  12. jonzz says:

First glance, I was like ‘Chrysanthemums’?. Everlasting flower. Thankfully we have Toxin Dealer Orchidophile Extraordinaire, LM. Hmm, that could actually be abbreviated to TODOELM. Actually, are they the flower type from Cameron nicknamed ‘everlasting flower’?

  13. LM says:

Aiyoh! now don’t let your DW see this! you can surely afford at least 20 RM10 stalks! Anyway, no white flowers would I get; especially pure white lilies. They’re for the ‘other’ occasion.

These daisies are called Gerberas, or gerbies for short. They come from South Africa. Quite lasting cut flowers.

    Now where’s the tip?
